
Intel Atom Z550 2GHz and Z515 CPUs
Intel have officially announced two new Atom processors, the Z550 and the Z515 at the IDF conference in Beijing. Intel also demonstrated its next gen Atom based MID platform dubbed as Moorestown.
The Moorestown platform consumes 10x less power as compared to an Atom platform. Moorestown comprises of a SoC which integrates a 45nm Atom processor, GPU, video and memory controller and an I/O Hub.
Intel Atom Z550 CPU is the fastest Atom processor. The Z550 bumps the clock speed to a cool 2GHz with support of Hyperthreading and consuming just under 3 watts of power.
Intel Atom Z515 CPU is a performance on demand processor, that uses Intel Burst Performance Technology to reach those peak 1.2GHz speeds.
